Kāpēc nepieciešams kolagēns?

Why do you need collagen?

Collagen is the body's main structural protein, which makes up connective tissue. It is made up of 3 chains of amino acids that form strong fibres and provide the body with its structure. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, accounting for 1/3 of the total protein content. It ensures the integrity, elasticity and strength of our body's connective tissues, thus maintaining the shape and function of our skin, cartilage and bones.

After the age of 21, collagen synthesis in the body decreases by 1.5% per year. By the age of 45, collagen levels may have dropped by up to 36%. The main signs that your body is lacking collagen are from a beauty point of view:

  • loss of volume of facial skin tissue;
  • Wrinkles and lines;
  • brittle nails that often break and split;
  • brittle, dry hair, hair loss;
  • dull, dehydrated skin;
  • body skin is dry, with reduced tone.

It is therefore beneficial to take collagen supplements to maintain health and beauty for longer. Taking collagen orally ensures that it enters the bloodstream, through which it passes on to the cells and tissues. It is important to strengthen your body orally in order to maximally delay and slow down the ageing process. Various skin care products, including collagen creams or beauty injections, only have a superficial effect and this is not long-lasting. Only the top layer of the skin is stimulated, without affecting the physiological processes from the inside, so that collagen synthesis in the body does not take place. If you ask me, is it necessary to buy a collagen cream? My answer is always no! It is better to invest in a collagen supplement than in a cream, because for collagen synthesis to take place, it has to be taken orally. The collagen molecule is very large and does not penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, so a collagen cream in principle provides good hydration and plumping of the skin. In this case, I prefer creams with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and peptides.

Which collagen is best?

Choose a collagen according to the goal you want to achieve, but remember that collagen will primarily enter the body where it is most lacking. So if you use collagen to improve the appearance of your skin and don't see results after the first month or two, don't worry, it comes with time.

Types of collagen

Collagen types I and III are the most common in the human body. Type I collagen is responsible for strong hair, skin, nails and bones. Type III collagen is responsible for bone integrity and the strength of the blood vessels in the circulatory system. Type II collagen is less common and is widely found in joints and cartilage. Marine collagen contains mainly collagen types I and III, while type II is of animal origin.

  • Type I collagen - teeth, hair;
  • Type I collagen - skin 75%;
  • Type I collagen - bone 90%;
  • Type II collagen: cartilage;
  • Type II collagen - tendons and ligaments 80-85%;
  • Type III collagen - skin and cartilage.

The recommended daily intake of collagen for IDD is 5000 mg. For people with pronounced signs of collagen deficiency such as brittle, brittle hair, dehydrated skin, pronounced wrinkles, brittle nails or joint pain, it is recommended to increase the dose to 10000 mg for the first 2 months. The course that should be followed is at least 3 months. I recommend that you choose hydrolysed marine collagenas its low molecular weight allows 95% collagen absorption. The amino acids in marine collagen ensure the strength of all connective tissues in the body, giving the skin strength and elasticity. Marine collagen has also been shown to be better absorbed and absorbed into the bloodstream.

Hydrolysed marine collagen:

  • Increases the skin's moisture level and elasticity;
  • Reduces micro-wrinkles;
  • supports bone matrices and the brain;
  • strengthens hair and nails, promotes their growth;
  • improves vascular strength;
  • improves intestinal health;
  • improves joint health, relieves pain.
